our child? Recently we got a piece of mail from the high school addressed to the parents of Lindsey Buckholz. I was thinking it was a notice about next years's schedule or something of that nature. I opened the envelope and began reading, 'LNHS is requesting your presence to celebrate your child's academic achievement on May 7, 2013... please RSVP, etc.' I showed Joe and made a mental note to RSVP...
Fast forward several weeks later, we arrived at the high school for the event, we were met by a group of parents, yummy hors d'oeuvres, and a follow up with speeches from superintendents, principals and visits from school board executives. The new superintendent talked to the kids about risk and then went on to give personal stories about his life (at one point stopping to cry thinking about what he has been through). It was an hour of remembering what is important in life for me.. celebrating what you have, remembering what has brought you to this point and just being so proud of what a bright, talented young girl we have..
From the inside of the program, it reads your child has maintained a 3.9 GPA , taking at least 1 Honors, AP or Gifted class.
Based on the children honored, it was pretty darn impressive as it was a small group and this is a large high school, approx 600 children per grade.
